It’s even more important to get an annual wheelchair service if it’s been used all the time, as there’s a greater risk of wear and tear and it’s always better to catch any potential issues during a service before they became a real issue.

What’s Involved In a Wheelchair Service?
Every time we carry out an electric wheelchair service, we go through the following items in detail:
- Checking of all bearings, nuts, bolts and screws that attach to the wheelchair frame, seats, brackets etc.
- Load testing of the wheelchair batteries to ensure they are in proper working order with the option of getting discounted replacements if needed.
- Inspection and testing of all electrical components of the powerchair, for example; lights, joystick, lifting mechanisms, control units etc.
- Test and inspection of the main motor(s) and gearbox(s) to ensure there’s no damage and that the motor brushes are in good working order.
- Full top to bottom damage check to ensure there’s no dangers or potential future issues that could arise.

How Often Should I Service My Wheelchair?
We would advise going off your wheelchair manufacturer recommendations which can be found in your user manual. However, if you cannot find this information then we’d recommend at least servicing it once a year.
